We’ve been receiving dozens of stories from people coast to coast about the transformative power of music. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we are publishing a story every day in May.

My friend @randievangorp introduced me to this song and video at a time of my life that my mental and physical health were on a decline due to an unbalanced lifestyle and from ignoring past traumas.
The ‘Ride’ monologue and song lyrics reflected my own personal journey of finding comfort in strangers, being transient and escaping my struggles through spontaneous experiences. I loved feeling understood and connected to Lana Del Ray’s music, but eventually the “war in my mind” escalated and I could no longer “just ride.”
Today when I hear the song I enjoy reflecting and reliving past adventures. My lifestyle is no longer nomadic. I’ve defined my home to best manage my health & happiness. How ironic to thrive in the structure and balance I used to run from….“I’m fucking crazy, but I am free”.
