Bringing connection and comfort through the power of Music and storytelling
AMP4Life: Music, Memories and Meaning
Life in long-term care can be lonely. The COVID-19 pandemic left a lasting impact on long-term care residents, healthcare workers, and vulnerable communities across Canada. Many were struggling with isolation, anxiety, and the effects of prolonged stress. But believe in the power of music to help people heal, so we partnered with the Canadian Music Therapy Fund (CMTF) to design a program that supports mental wellness through music, storytelling, and connection. AMP4Life is a program that brings music therapy, storytelling, and song to support the mental well-being of long-term care residents, helping them feel more connected, engaged, and at ease. The program is designed to reduce stress, ease anxiety, and foster social connections. Delivered by certified music therapists, the program includes interactive music sessions.
AMP4Life Book Club
Organizations can also choose to run the AMP4Life Book Club—an eight-week series where residents share stories and songs inspired by Songs of Hope and Happiness. These sessions spark memories, encourage self-expression, and create a sense of belonging.
If your organization already utilizes music therapists, these programs can be available in a train-the-trainer format.
The Power of Music at Any Age
The Awesome Music Hour for Seniors
The Awesome Music Hour for Seniors is an age-friendly and inclusive program designed to help seniors improve their health and well-being through music, storytelling, and creative expression. Through engaging workshops, participants will explore how music can foster self-expression, boost confidence, and build resilience while connecting with others in a supportive, inclusive environment. Special attention is given to accessibility, ensuring those with visual or hearing challenges can fully participate. This program gently encourages seniors to find their voice, celebrate their experiences, and discover the power of storytelling through music.
Led by trained facilitators, music therapists, and movement instructors, the program combines peer discussions and interactive activities to create a welcoming space for growth and connection. Participants will learn how music can help process emotions, spark memories, and support mental wellness. They’ll also explore movement, rhythm, and storytelling as tools for self-reflection and creative expression. By stepping outside their comfort zones, seniors will strengthen their sense of self, build community, and even gain access to additional resources and support networks. Whether you love to sing, enjoy listening to music, or want to connect with others, The Awesome Music Hour invites you to experience the joy and healing power of music.
